How to add a new switch to Cacti

  1. Click on Console, Devices and Add in order.

  2. Use one of the existing switches as template for configuration and save it.

  3. In order to create graphs, click on the name of the device in the “Devices” list. Then click on “Create Graphs for this Host”

  4. Select the interfaces that you want to create graph and also select the graph type from the drop-down menu. For traffic (bit rate) the graph type is “In/Out Bits with 95th Percentile”. For packets the graph type is “In/Out Unicast Packets”.

  5. In order for adding the device to the MacTrack click on Devices under “Device Tracking” section and then click on “Add”

  6. The following is a typical configuration for a switch. “SNMP Options” and “Connectivity Options” don’t need to be filled or changed.
